A round- up of everything IBMYP at The Leigh Academy
This module we welcomed Dianne Blackburn, an IB MYP consultant into school for the day to witness the IB Middle Years Programme in action at The Leigh.
She was impressed with the warm and friendly atmosphere that she encountered and commented upon the good behaviour she saw in classrooms, with students engaged in the learning process, both asking and answering questions.
It was excellent to see that the Approaches to Learning skills and Learner Profile attributes that we have been developing in our students shone through, both in lessons and when Dianne was speaking to the students. It is these skills that will allow our young people to continue to achieve at GCSE level, in Post-16 and the life beyond school.
Dianne was particularly impressed by the Year 10 students that she spoke to regarding the Community Projects that they completed in Year 9. They passionately articulated the impact that the Community Project has had on them, advocating for its positive effects as they actively pursue work placements. Our Year 9 students will embark on the Community Project in January and I am sure that they will gain as much from it, whilst also giving back to the local community.
