Term 3, 2020 (Week 9)
During every lesson this week, I was trying my best to relate all my lessons with some indicators of implementing NCAF, such as I was trying to explain the subject’s concept and skills to students, creating teaching challenging tasks for students and also I often relate the subject content to their real life situations.
Firstly, applying students centered approach in all my teaching processes such as group work and IBL task where students are going to construct their own understanding on their own. For example; on the topic Square root, I gave students a task where they are going to do the weaving to find the square roots for the given square number, this is where they are doing their work on their own to find the answer. Not just that but also I often create challenging tasks such as complex activities which require students to think deeper and work collaboratively with their peers.
Secondly, I have also applied the connection of topics for subjects with real life situations where my students related the concept of the learning with their real life situation, for example; while discussing our topic which is family planning, I try to make it very clear and understand by connecting it with their real life situation on what they know about family planning. From this I finally found out that students were easily get the point.
lastly, I have also practicing the composing of song and skit based on our topic. For example; I gave students a task to compose their song on the advantages and disadvantages of money compared to the barter system, and another task that I gave them to do is that they are going to dramatize how money influences more ready competition among consumers, retailers and suppliers, this is where I encouraged them to relate their skit with the norms of their lives.
Overall, NCAF is crucial for all teachers to clearly understand the content of the curriculum that possibly enables them to know what
