This is the week where most of the class or period used for a revision and a catching up with notes that would be touched in the final exam in week 13, this is a time where I could determine student who often studying and student who did not often studying. From this I have learnt that by doing revision with student, it helps a teacher to identify how far student gone with the notes and also it is an opportunity for a teacher to see limitations on different areas on topics that need more effort to focus on that would help student for their studying before an exam, the week after. However, within this week, I got a chance to help my associate teachers to design an exam paper, this is also the time where my Mathematics, Health&PE and social science teacher gave me a chance to do a blue print for our exam paper. It was a great pleasure for me to do it as it a chance for me to recall what I have learnt from KTC, gladly it is successful and my confident in doing it is slightly developed.
Similarly, introducing a marking rubric to students is another strategy I have done during my teaching experience. This strategy is very effective where I used it for assessing my students’ progress in their learning. For example, during my experience, I usually distribute marking criteria on the paragraph writing before and after testing my students’ paragraph writing in the social science subject to enable students know what areas or topics they have to be tested on and to see how far they gone in those areas. This strategy is very effective as it promotes self-assessment where they could develop skills reflecting and exploring new insights and also enable to self-correct themselves.
And finally, important thing I have done during my teaching experience is that carrying out tests with my students. I usually carrying out short test and quiz when a particular topic is finished to test how far my students gone with topics they have learnt. As supported by Lynch 2018 she mentioned the purpose of carrying out test is the pathway of gathering relevant information about student performance or progress. Therefore, this component is very effective as it has enabled myself to measure my students’ capabilities, thus help me to adjust the learning activities toward their weaknesses after analyzing their results.
