Term 3,2020 (Week 6)
Throughout this whole week, there are many interesting things I have learnt and also there are some difficulties I have encountered with.
Initially, there are things I have learnt this week based on how to improve my lesson planning, throughout this week I focused on the competency which is lesson planning. Therefore, I often did daily plan and before delivering the lesson I gave my lesson plan to my associate teachers for checking it and then allow them to observe my delivering from that lesson plan. This is a very good week for me where I could hear feedbacks on my lesson plans that they were planned, legible and neat and my entire delivering is flowing well from the first beginning to the end. My learning outcomes are extracted from the syllabus and are linking to the curriculum standard. Not only that but also it followed well the lesson plan formats, like the 3ps and IDAC. She also mentioned that my teaching resources are well prepared and very attracting and engaging students in the learning, this can be proved by seeing all of them participated in the activities and could manage to finish their group work and individual activity on according to given time bound.
However on this same week, my social science lecturer also have time to assess my delivering based on social science and what he has commented about my lesson planning in which he mentioned about my learning activities does not cater every students’ need, because it is just a short answer questions where smart students could only attempt and smart students couldn’t, therefore he told me to create different learning activities including the drawing or the sketching of diagrams which are simple and more motivate slow students. Therefore, from this it gave me a lesson that beside following the lesson plan formats, extracting the learning outcomes from the syllabus and making it neat and tidy you have to make sure that the learning activities you have written in your lesson plan should cater every student differences.
In conclusion it has proven that I have practiced the indicators of lesson planning throughout my learning and teaching process this week, I have found it is very important to follow the lesson plan formats and try to make it neat and tidy and linking the learning outcomes with the curriculum as they are the best ways to make the teaching more effective. It is also understandable that it should be contain different learning activities which can meet all different learners’ ability.
