Term 3, 2020 (Week 7)
Throughout this week, I focused on the competency which is an effective lesson delivery. This week had given me time thinking about how to design a classroom and resources and what are teaching approaches or strategies to apply in order to help my students learn effectively.
Within this week, I’ve had always wrapping up the whole lesson at the end of the lesson through activities such as the exit slip, passing around the talking box game and oral questioning. Not only that but I always also providing constructive feedback on their leaning through giving positive reinforcement like, clapping and using magic words to thank them and commented excellent, very good and keep it up on their books for their participation and great effort. By doing all of these I found out that students are motivated and encouraged to do more activities and they could able to answer questions on what has been taught at the end of the lesson.
Similarly, throughout this week I was trying to be resourceful and creative in every learning activity I did in order for students to motivate. For example; providing steps on how to apply them in calculating for the answer, this strategy allows students to ask questions for further clarification on the topic. And most of all giving students IPL tasks which are highly encourages students to work collaboratively and then ask questions if there are misconceptions.
One difficulty I have encountered within this week is that some of my learning activities are not done this weak which are very engaging such as composing of a song from the given topic, experiment and strategies in the grouping such as the jigsaw/home-base. As a result of this, therefore one of my lecturers who assessed me that day commented that the teaching process was good but try to come up with various activities (simplest to complex)
Finally, I have learnt that by providing constructive feedback to students on their own learning and propose ways for them to improve, applying different interactive resources and activities to facilitates learning within a lesson and using strategies that encourages students to ask questions and discuss about their topic are good ways to make the teaching effective.
