Dual Enrollment Grants - Eligible school entities interested in applying must first indicate their interest between Friday, February 17, 2023, and Friday, February 24, 2023, by completing the form noted in the RFA, which is also available at https://forms.office.com/g/juEvYSas85
Dual enrollment: Requires each school district, CTC, and charter school to enter into an agreement with an institution of higher education to allow students to enroll in college coursework prior to high school graduation. Agreements must meet the requirements in the law. No later than July 31, 2023, and each year thereafter, schools must submit agreements and related data to PDE.
High school transcripts: Beginning of the 2022-23 school year, requires an industry- recognized credential attained by a student be included on a student's transcript.
Structured Literacy Program: Beginning in the 2022-23 school year, mandates the Department of Education (PDE) to establish a program of professional development and applied practice in the Structured Literacy Program for school personnel that includes in-class demonstration, modeling, and coaching support to improve reading and literacy outcomes. Each school entity professional development plan must include training in structured literacy, and each teacher preparation program must include training based on PDE developed reading literacy skill standards.
ChatGPT - a new AI chatbot that spits out long-form answers to just about any question in a way that sounds human; it is difficult to detect
ChatGPT is the hot topic right now, and it’s nice to find a discussion about it from a trusted source, right? Remake Learning, based in Pittsburgh, is hosting a virtual session next Tuesday, February 28 from 4:30-5:30pm. Our friend from Common Sense Education, Jennifer Ehehalt, along with her colleague Tali Horowitz, will lead the exploration and discussion of ChatGPT and its implications for educators.

PA STEELS Hub- This STEELS Hub provides educators with resources to implement and support the new standards. An implementation plan, developed by PDE, aims to ensure that all students have access to an education that prepares them to succeed and become lifelong learners.

Presented by the Pittsburgh Technology Council in partnership with the Readiness Institute at Penn State and Fortyx80. Scholarships are available for students to attend!
We are inviting students, in grades 6-12 along with early college students, to engage with leaders across our region’s most innovative tech community. Students will participate in experiential learning opportunities at the Energy Innovation Center (EIC) and then travel by bus to get an inside look into the STEM industry through various tour stops. The STEM Summit will also feature a keynote speaker and exhibit tables hosted by several organizations.
