Alice is a powerful block-based programming environment that helps young people learn to code by building virtual 3D worlds, creating games, and exploring their creativity. Alice is full of familiar and inspiring characters and environments to jumpstart creativity, and it's complex enough to encourage deep engagement. Check out this spooky Halloween video made in Alice to get a taste!
Alice is free for everyone, and was developed by the Entertainment Technology Center at Carnegie Mellon University. In celebration of the ten-year anniversary of Randy Pausch's Last Lecture, the ETC is holding a special regional competition, the Alice Challenge, where middle and high schoolers can build great things in Alice and win prizes.
