  • • • Mascaro Construction Co. began advocating careers in its industry to young people even before partnering with the Consortium several years ago to promote them in K-12 schools. With its proactive stance, it should come as no surprise that the builder now is offering its own career video series as a resource for educators, students, and others to learn about different pathways in the industry.  President and Chief Executive Officer John Mascaro, Jr. decided videos would make a great single industry showcase after he and several other of the company’s employees gave interviews that became part of the Consortium’s Career Journeys video library, said Mary Ann Berg, the company’s Director of Marketing.

Q & A from October Meeting

1. Will the Act 35 data be shared publicly in any way? 

PDE is required to compile and post statewide data, but there are no plans to disaggregate by school/IU/county etc…

2. Will the Future Ready Index have an asterisk to show that the data is from COVID impacted years?

    The dates of the data will appear in the “grid”. 

    Districts are worried that the public may not realize that the data was from a school year where districts may not have been in session for the full year.  

   There will be additional explanatory text, but we haven’t finalized the design.

Educator Effectiveness and PVAAS - building scores will available in the fall of 2022 for the 2021-2022 school year, but no growth data will be used until 2024 because you need three years consistent data to utilize this in teacher evaluations

• All students must take a PASA or Keystone exam by the end of Grade 11.

• Tracking tools will be available in December.

• Students must meet local grade-based requirements (Trigger course or PBA)

• Students can have more than 1 credential for the Evidence Based Pathway

 The Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) recognizes outstanding K-6 science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and/or computer science teachers. This year's awards will honor science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and/or computer science teachers working in grades K-6. Nominations are open now and close January 7, 2022.  All nominated teachers receive an email inviting them to begin the application process; applications must be completed by February 6, 2022.

PDESAS Update 

The Assessment Center has recently changed.  The state has added a Checking for Understanding, which produces a URL to provide for students.  All new PSSA and Keystone released items have been added to the assessment center.
