There are two floors in the Learning Centre. Each includes a range of learning spaces, resources and people with expertise in various areas.
On the first floor you will find the Elementary library, multipurpose rooms and offices. On the second floor you will find the Secondary library, Retake office and learning spaces.
The libraries at ISPP include a range of diverse materials and resources in a welcoming and friendly environment. Students, families, and staff are encouraged to visit and utilise these resources and spaces.
The libraries are open Monday-Friday 07:00-16:00.
Reading greatly impacts academic, emotional and social success. Ensuring students have choice, access to high-interest texts, and time to read everyday are core beliefs of our library. In addition, students learn how to gather information, describe and record data, sort and categorise, interpret, draw conclusions and present their learning across the curriculum in collaboration with the teacher librarian and homeroom teacher. Classes may have weekly scheduled visits to the library for borrowing and returning books, please check with your child’s homeroom schedule. The library provides an open learning environment that can be used by students at all times. All members of the school community may borrow from the library - parents are all provided with a library patron number on their ISPP security tag.
As many books are borrowed and returned each week, parents are asked to help their children be responsible borrowers, by encouraging them to keep books in a designated place and return them on time. ISPP provides each student with a library bag to keep books damage free. Students are allowed to borrow books when they have their library bag. Any resource that is not returned to the library within 14 days becomes overdue. Users will be charged for the replacement cost of any lost or unreturned resources.
Grade 4 and 5 students may visit the Secondary library to borrow books.
Grade 3 students and younger, may visit the Secondary library with a teacher or parent.
