Today we enjoyed our MFL at the secondary school. We revisited spanish vowel sounds and some of the vocabulary we learnt in year 3 and 4. We then looked at some new vocabulary for different shapes and which were masculine and feminine words.

In Spanish this week, we have been discovering Spanish artist. We used our knowledge from our previous lessons this term about colours and shapes to begin unpicking some of the art pieces we were researching.

Today we began our new topic about how we are feeling. We recapped on some adjectives that we have used within our previous spanish lessons and looked at some new spanish adjectives to explain how we are feeling. In addition, we looked at the feminine and masculine versions of these words.

Today we built on our learning from last week and completed a listening activity. During this task we had to listen to phrases and tick the correct written expression.

Module 3
Los planetas
The planets
Today we began our planets topic where we learnt how to say the planets of our solar system in spanish. We first recapped some feminine and masculine words for 'the' (el, la, los and las) as part of our revisit. During this revisit, we used our thinking skills to think about what was unusual about the words 'Los planetas' and we concluded that it breaks the normal rules as it is masculine, even though it ends in an 'a'. We practised some pronounciation of letter sounds, in particularly for [que], [qui], [ce] and [ci].

What are you like?
Today we learnt how to describe our hair and eye colour. We practised orally how to say 'I have (hair colour)' and 'I have (eye colour)'. We played a game of 'correct the teacher', where we had to listen to a statement said correctly and then find the mistake made when it was said the second time.

Today we recapped how to describe our hair and eye colours. We completed a listening activity where we identify the correct vowel sound in the words and then listen to a sentence and order it correctly.

This week we looked at adapting verb forms to be able to describe somebody else's hair and eye colour. Our focus verbs were tengo (I have), tienes (you have) and tiene (he/she has). We completed a listening activity where we had to identify the sentence we heard out of three possible sentences and then we played listening bingo for different phrases that were matched to numbers.

In Spanish today we were learning how to describe another person. We looked at their gender, hair, clothing and whether they were wearing glasses or not. We were given characters to choose from and we had to describe them orally and then write a written description about them in Spanish.

¿Qué hora es?
Give the time
We began our new topic in Spanish this week, 'Give the Time'. We first looked at the a calendar to recall days, numbers and months as well as looking new key vocabulary such as dia (day), fecha (date), mes (month) and hoy (today). We then practised listening to the question '¿Qué hora es?' and answered the different clocks shown using spanish. Using our new understanding, we then wrote the time we were given in Spanish in English.

¿A comer?
Spanish geography and food
This module, we have been discovering the basic geography of Spain as well as understanding the points of the compass in Spanish. We have been locating and naming autonomous regions in spain and have looked at mountains and rivers that can be located there.
During our lessons, we have been leaerning to use context to work out unfamiliar words and have been discussing some facts that we know about the country.
