Pupils will:
understand and apply the principles of a healthy and varied diet
prepare and cook a variety of predominantly savoury dishes using a range of cooking techniques
understand seasonality, and know where and how a variety of ingredients are grown, reared, caught and processed.
We onsidered what staying heathy meant, this included looking at the Eat Well Plate.
Pupils should be taught the knowledge, understanding and skills needed to engage in an iterative process of designing and making
Cross stitching
We practiced our cross stitching on a special material called binca.
Some people were able to demonstrate that could use cross stitches to create their initial.
Pupils will be able to
investigate and analyse a range of existing products
We looked at fastenings in the room and that we knew were on our clothes. A zip ia a good fastening becasue it easy to do up and there will be no gaps. Velcro isn't a great fastening as it makes too much noise and sometimes other things get stuck to it too.
Pupils will be able to
use research and develop design criteria to inform the design of innovative, functional, appealing products that are fit for purpose, aimed at particular individuals or groups
People were labelling their designs and used pencil and rulers.
They labelled the running or cross stitches along with the fastening.
People also looked at the aesthetics - the design - as part of their design.
Pupils will be able to
-select from and use a wider range of tools and equipment to perform practical tasks [for example, cutting, shaping, joining and finishing], accurately
select from and use a wider range of materials and components, including construction materials, textiles and ingredients, according to their functional properties and aesthetic qualities
Pupils will be able to
evaluate their ideas and products against their own design criteria and consider the views of others to improve their work
