On the 4th of May, TY 1's left school at around quarter to nine with Ms.Herbert and Mr.Walsh.
We were travelling to Farran-Wood in Cork (an hour and and a half away) where there are zip-ling, obstacle courses, and high-ropes within the trees.
'Zip-it' is located beside the National Rowing centre and Inniscarra lake. It offers up to 91 activities between platforms in the trees including climbing, swinging from cargo nets and riding a bmx bike across a bridge. There are 5 different circuits suitable for different ages and abilities.
I am scared of heights, so I let that fear get the best of me! I did however complete 3 circuits (as recommended), which were deemed the lower stages.
The staff were really kind and humorous, especially Ben who guided me through one of the circuits.
We were equipped with harnesses and helmets. Each harness had three clips, which I thought were confusing to work initially.
Luckily the weather held up, because I don't think the trip would have been as enjoyable.
I gave this trip 4 stars, because I started crying while on one of the platforms out of fear. Although, I was glad I completed the circuits in the end.
3 things I enjoyed:
Having the laugh with the instructors
Being on the ground again....
Using teamwork to finish each circuit
2 things I learned:
How to use the safety clips
That being up high isn't as intimidating as it seems!
1 thing I would change:
I wish we could have stayed there for longer, as some people didn't get to finish some circuits.
