engineering

  • Mr.Lambe was our teacher for Engineering.

  • Our aim for this course was to make a circuit board, that has the ability to control and predict a dice reading.

  • We spent three quarters of our time wiring, soldering and gluing pieces onto a circuit board. The rest of our time was divided to watching videos and tutorials on what the outcome or presentation of our boards should look like, as well as how it is supposed to operate.

  • Initially, I was not looking forward to engineering class. I knew for sure that I did not want to choose it as a subject for Leaving Cert, because I had no interest or any practical skills. However, I was surprised to discover that I really enjoyed the classes! I learned new skills and realised that I should never make up my mind about something, without experiencing it first and foremost!

Soldering

  • I used a soldering iron and solder wire to embed my pieces

Gluing

  • I had to use a hot-glue gun to position pieces into place

Wire cutting

  • I used a wire-cutter to snip wires

Drilling

  • I used a drilling press to create tiny holes on my board
