A word from your Proud Principal Mrs. Garcia:
Thank you all for attending Literacy Night on Thursday! We had a great turn out and we enjoyed having all the families on campus.
This week our teacher Mr. Velasco, our 5th grade bilingual teacher, was deployed by the US Navy. We have tied a yellow ribbon on our tree in his honor. We honor and appreciate the sacrifice that Mr. Velasco and his family are making to serve our country.

Tips for Parents and Families:
Are you dealing with your child talking back? Sometimes kids misunderstand when it is okay to voice their opinion and when it becomes disrespectful. This can cause a lot of frustration for the child and the adult.
First, explain backtalk is to your child. Talk to them about how to disagree respectfully and when it is the right time to disagree.
Be clear about what isn't acceptable behavior (i.e. swearing, yelling, sarcasm, etc.).
Stay calm and don't engage in an argument.
Don't take backtalk personally.
Know when to disengage and walk away.
Set limits, give consequences for backtalk, and praise respectful interactions!
Remind your child that learning how to communicate in a respectful way will help them to have healthy relationships at home, school, and eventually at work!
