1st grade: Expanding the types of jobs we know about
2nd grade: Different jobs use different tools
3rd grade: Learning about the six career clusters
4th grade: Exploring the six career clusters and finding their top three areas of interest
5th grade: Exploring various career fields and discovering the skills and education needed for specific jobs
Parenting Tips:
Did you know that practicing daily gratitude improves mental health and physical health? Here are some ideas to incorporate gratitude in your family routines. It is important to model for our students how to practice gratitude intentionally and it's perfect timing with Thanksgiving!
Gratitude Ritual - Have family members go around the dinner table expressing something they are grateful for each night at dinner time.
A-B-C List - Make a list with your kids using the alphabet as a guide. What are you thankful for that starts with each letter? For example: A - animals, B - bed, C- candy, etc.
Three Things - Have your kids write down three things they are thankful for in a journal each night before bed.
Be Grateful for YOU - Have your family members draw a picture of themselves and together write down things you are grateful for about each other. You can write down things about yourself and for one another. This is a great time to encourage and lift each other up!
Gratitude Jar - Fill out a small slip of paper each day for something you are grateful for. At the end of the year, pull out the slips and look at all the positive things that happened!
Model It - Practice saying out loud the things you are grateful for that we might take for granted, so your kids can hear it. For example: I'm so thankful for a bed to sleep in. I got a good night's sleep. OR I'm so grateful for the heat in our house.
Gratitude in Action - Do an act of kindness for someone you are thankful for. You could drop off flowers for a family member, buy snacks for your mailman, or write a thank you note to your babysitter.
