Counselor Corner
WOW Time:
This month during our Counseling Instruction (known as WOW Time), students will be learning about Goal Setting and having a Growth Mindset. Lessons will focus on setting goals, that making mistakes help us learn, the difference between a Growth Mindset and a Fixed Mindset, and the Power of Yet (we just haven't learned a skill... YET!).
Parenting Tips:
Happy 2024! The start of a new semester is the perfect time to talk to your students about their goals for the rest of the school year. Here are some tips for goal-setting with kids:
Pick a time when your kiddos are undistracted. This could be during dinner or a family meeting.
Talk to your students about different kinds of goals they could set. They could set an academic goal, a personal goal, a health goal, etc.
Go around and share your goals out loud. Make sure that they hear mom and dad's goals too! Modeling goal-setting for kids is super important!
Write down each family member's goals and post them somewhere you can see them frequently.
Here are some resources to help you start the conversation!
