On Monday 8/28, we are kicking off the "Captain Underpants Restroom Challenge!" Check out the video. This is an example of how we teach kids expectations and make it fun. Winners will be announced on 9/15! The goal is to teach kids to respect an area we all share and keep the restrooms clean in a fun way! The kids love these challenges!!
WE NEED YOU! I'm looking for a fun dad or mom out there that would be interested in purchasing AND dressing in the Captain Underpants Blow Up Costume to celebrate with the winners of the challenge! The kids will LOVE it!!
Email me (Mrs. Garcia) for more details if you would be interested! jcgarc02@garlandisd.net
By 8/30, submit your CEP Form in School Café AND be connected on Class Dojo, so your student will get to be a part of the WATER SLIDE FUN on Thursday, August 31 !!
If your student is participating on Thursday:
⭐️Have students wear their swimsuits under their clothes. This way they won’t have to change into a swimsuit.
⭐️Send a towel and extra clothes in a plastic bag. The plastic bag will be used to return the wet clothes
⭐️Please apply sunscreen at home
We are looking forward to having fun with the kids! ☀️🕶️
FYI: There will be 2 water slides and 1 dry slide for students that don't want to be on the water ones.
WE NEED volunteers to help during 2nd , 3rd and 5th grade: Sign up here Water Slide Volunteers
Counselor Corner
This week we started celebrating Where You Going Wednesdays! Every Wednesday we encourage students to wear a future-ready shirt. This could be for a future middle school, high school, college, military, or career!
Every week students learn about a career during their morning SEL (Social-Emotional Learning) time. This month students are learning about Health Care professions. On Wednesdays, Ms. Sinclair asks a trivia question about that week's career. The first class to email the correct answer wins a bag of sweet treats, a sign for their door, and Future Frankie! Be sure to ask your students what careers they are learning about.
Tips for Parents and Families:
Encourage open communication with your student.
Ask open ended questions about their day such as, What is one thing you learned today? What was the best part of your day? What was a low point in your day? What was a weird thing that happened today? How were you helpful and kind today?
Listen actively (phones down!) and take an interest in what they're talking about.
Check out this You Tube video for 4 simple steps for improving family communication!
Listen without judgment! Students are more likely to share information when they aren't worried their parents will become upset.

Doors open at 7:30am. We do not have staff to monitor students before 7:30am. Do not leave children unattended before 7:30am. Breakfast is served at 7:50am in the classroom. School starts at 8:10am.
