Testing Tips for Parents:
Make sure your child gets plenty of rest the night before the test.
On the morning of the test, your child needs to get up in plenty of time so he/she won't feel rushed.
Feed your child a good breakfast. Research shows that children do better on tests if they have had a good breakfast.
Do as much as you can to make your child feel comfortable. Try not to say things to make him/her feel more nervous.
Reassure your child that no matter the outcome of the test you will still love him/her. Encourage them to simply do their best.

Career Day:
We have a DATE CHANGE for our Career Day! We are now having our Career Day on Monday, May 13! We would love to have you as a speaker!
We are in Phase 1 of planning our Career Day... Recruiting Speakers! So far we have six speakers and we need about 30-35 speakers!
If you're interested, please sign up at: bit.ly/BEAVERCAREERDAY2024
Social-Emotional Lessons:
Every morning, our students start the day with a 10-15 minute Social-Emotional lesson. This is a time for students to talk, share, and make connections over a central topic they can relate to.
This week we are focusing on our 6th Mindset: Live to Give. This unit focuses on giving to others in a helpful way, making an impact on the world around us, and receiving help or kindness from others gracefully. Check out last week's lesson here: SEL Week 31
Parenting Tips to support the Live to Give Mindset:
Look for ways your family can help others! Some ideas are: donate food or clothing, spend time at a retirement center, give snacks to first responders, clean up a park, or volunteer at a pet shelter. Check out other opportunities in Garland: https://www.volunteermatch.org/
Accept help from others in a gracious way. This shows our students that everyone needs help sometimes and that we should say "thank you" when accepting others' kindness.
Recognize that you are the biggest impact on your child and you are leaving a legacy in their lives! You are a tremendous influence and when you pursue your dreams you will inspire them to pursue their dreams. What do you want your legacy to be?
College EXPO:
Save the date for our 2nd annual College Expo on Tuesday, May 28 from 8:15 - 10:15 am! We would love to have you watch your student present!
Your student will be presenting on a college or university with their classmates. More info will be coming out on Class Dojo soon!
