Testing Tips for 3rd, 4th and 5th grade Parents:
Make sure your child gets plenty of rest the night before the test.
On the morning of the test, your child needs to get up in plenty of time so he/she won't feel rushed.
Feed your child a good breakfast. Research shows that children do better on tests if they have had a good breakfast.
Do as much as you can to make your child feel comfortable. Try not to say things to make him/her feel more nervous.
Reassure your child that no matter the outcome of the test you will still love him/her. Encourage them to simply do their best.

Solar Eclipse :
Parents,
Please see this communication regarding the Solar Eclipse on Monday, April 8 for GISD.
At Beaver Tech, this event will be tied to a Science lesson during the student's Science time in order to maximize instructional time.

Testing Tips:
This week we begin testing season. Here are tips to ensure your child can be successful while taking the STAAR test:
Make sure your child goes to bed early! Kids aged 6-13 need 9-12 hours of sleep a night. Kids should go to bed between 8-9 to be well-rested.
Make a healthy breakfast for your child! A full stomach will ensure your student can concentrate on the test.
Ask your students how they plan to be successful. What strategies will they use?
Write them a positive note that lets them know you believe in them. Let them know there is no pressure, to remain calm, and try their best on the test.
Career Day:
Mark your calendar... a very special Career Day is coming on Friday, May 10!
We are in Phase 1 of planning our Career Day... Recruiting Speakers! So far we have five speakers and we need about 30-35 speakers!
