Graduation and Universities
All students at FIS are expected to earn a high school diploma during their final four years of high school. This diploma is recognition of the completion of a high school education to a satisfactory level that encompasses both academic and non-academic activities.
Students entering tertiary education are normally required to have a High School Diploma from an accredited school, or the equivalent.
A minimum of 24 credits are required for the FIS High School Diploma
Students, who because of their short length of time at FIS, may not be able to meet all of the requirements for graduation as set forth above, may be granted a diploma at the Head of School’s discretion based on the requirements at their previous school.
Notes on Credits
To get the FIS High School Diploma a student needs four years of High School and they are expected to be a full time student throughout these years. Every student needs to attend six subject courses per year through Grade 11. In Grade 12, while 5 courses is permitted, 6 is generally recommended.
A student admitted to FIS in the middle of the High School diploma years, will have their previous course evaluated prior to admittance and informed of their status in terms of the FIS High School Diploma. If a student has successfully completed their courses in their previous school, FIS will normally consider they have obtained 6 credits per year.
FIS credits may be earned through approved online courses. Courses must first be approved by the Head of School or Principal. All costs relating to online courses must be met by the family.
All of the above points are subject to Head of School discretion.
