Other Seminars & Conferences Events

Seminars and Conferences are also responsible for the organisation of a number of other academic projects of various characteristics at all levels of the Association's activities. The categories of these events are indicated in ICM Decision Book, Part 7, chapter 8 Other Seminars and Conferences Events

Lectures

A lecture is a discourse within a certain area of law given by a speaker with a professional or academic background. The topic is discussed in a plenary. It may be a separate project or be part of a larger whole.

Panel discussions

A panel discussion is an event where two or more experts discuss issues of a specific legal topic in front of an audience.

Seminars

A seminar is an event, which consists of several lectures about a legal topic or field of law. The topic is discussed in a plenary.

Conferences

A conference is an event that entails more individual participation and academic contribution than a seminar. The topic(s) shall be discussed in workshops to be reported to a plenary.

Study Visits

A Study Visit is an event organised by one Local or National Group and at least one other Local or National Group of ELSA or the partner associations of ELSA aiming for an academic, social and cultural exchange through means of sharing cultural experiences and exchange of legal knowledge.

Institutional Visits

An Institutional Visit is an event aiming to give the participants a chance to visit and learn more about governmental or non-governmental organisations, public administrations, private institutions, universities or other higher education institutions. The main purpose of the event is the visit itself.
