ELSA Delegations
Definition
ELSA Delegations is a Flagship Project of ELSA that allows ELSA members and Alumni to represent ELSA as ELSA Delegates in meetings and sessions of organisations and institutions in which ELSA has a special Observership status or with which ELSA cooperates. It is therefore an exclusive opportunity for members of our Association to have a closer look at the everyday reality of the most important institutions in the world.
Being an ELSA Delegate is a unique opportunity coming with many benefits such as:
Representation of ELSA within international organisations and institutions official meetings;
Acquisition of practical experience in the field of international decision making process;
Comprehension of a multilateralised legal environment.
Partner institutions and organisations
ELSA has a special status and cooperation with many organisations and institutions such as:
UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO);
UN Economic and Social Council (UN ECOSOC);
UN Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL);
UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC);
Council of Europe (CoE);
Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR);
World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO);
Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD);
Coalition for the International Criminal Court (CICC).
How to apply?
Each year, six ELSA Delegations Calls are opened. They are consisting of:
clear descriptions and practical information about the sessions included in the Call,
a general task description of ELSA Delegates, and
the selection criteria used by the International Board of ELSA when selecting ELSA Delegates.
Application period lasts for two weeks. Every member of ELSA interested in taking part in this project is obliged to fill the Application Form published on delegations.elsa.org and submit a CV as well as a motivation letter.
In order to select applicants the International Board of ELSA ranks applications using a few general criteria:
content of the CV,
content and relevance of the motivation letter,
level of ELSA knowledge and contribution to ELSA's activities,
appreciation of ELSA International.
