COURSE CONTENT

Theory

Students will begin to build a foundation into the concepts of VCE Biology. In this subject students will learn about the structure and function of organelles in a plant and animal cell. Students will gain an understanding of how asexual reproduction enables survival of a species. Different systems of the human body will be a focus, understanding how the main organs in each of these systems function to keep us alive. Students will explore human evolution and look at how natural selection has resulted in the different species on earth. Finally, students will explore their DNA and genetic inheritance; understanding how traits are passed on from one generation to another.

Practical

Practical activities include: microscopes, dissections, DNA extractions.
