COURSE CONTENT

Theory

Physics seeks to understand and explain the physical world. It examines models and ideas used to make sense of the world and which are sometimes challenged as new knowledge develops. By looking at the way matter and energy interact through observations, measurements and experiments, physicists gain a better understanding of the underlying laws of nature.

• Electric Circuits

• Magnetism

Practical

Physical Science includes opportunities for inquiry based learning through the completion of many practical investigations and experiments. Students develop key science skills and generate links between theory and practice

Practicals:

• Investigating motion with ticker-timers

• Investigating the applications of magnets

• Building simple circuits

• Examining Voltage, Current and Resistance in a   series and Parallel circuits.

• Examining the influences of heat loss/ gain

• Finding the best insulator among the given materials.
