COURSE CONTENT
Theory
In this course students will investigate the principles of food safety, preparation, presentation and sensory perceptions of food for healthy eating. Students will follow a design process to meet the requirements of a specified design brief. They will investigate the requirements of the design brief in order to produce a product for a specific purpose. The Social, Ethical and Sustainability factors that impact food production and consumption will also be researched and explored by students.
Practical
Student use practical skills to produce a range of products
Students will use the design process to respond to design briefs and apply their knowledge of safety in nutritious meals.
Materials- To purchase the necessary food items for practicals Course fee: $80 per student per semester will be applicable to cover the cost of material used.
Homestead Senior provides a standard curriculum which is available to all students free of charge. Specialist subjects are in addition to the standard curriculum at Year 10 and for the sustainability of these courses, a family contribution is required.
To reserve your child’s place in this course, the college requires a minimum of 60% deposit, payable during course counseling appointment. Without a deposit, the college may allocate the place to another student.
