COURSE CONTENT

Theory

In this subject students will begin to build a foundation into the concepts of VCE Chemistry. Students will look at atomic theory, trends of the periodic table, different types of chemical bonds, chemical reactions and chemistry calculations. They will use a range of practical activities incorporating the theory being learned, allowing students to understand and consolidate their knowledge through observations.

Practical

Practical activities include: exploration of elements and atoms through simulations and modelling activities, precipitation reactions and reactivity of metals, observation of different chemical reactions, investigating different effects on rate of reaction, investigating law of conservation and applying that to chemical calculations.
