COURSE CONTENT

Theory

Students will develop their understanding of music language and aural comprehension through music analysis. Students will focus on the application of the elements of music and how they can be manipulated to form engaging music. Students will explore a variety of styles and genres to gain a holistic understanding of music. By the completion of this course, students will understand how to utilise music production software by gaining an understanding of its parameters and applications.

Practical

Students will develop technical skills on their chosen instrument and use these skills, in conjunction with critical listening and music language knowledge, to perform a range or repertoire within a group context. Students will also use a digital audio workstation to compose original music in their selected style.
