COURSE CONTENT
Theory
Students are required to study General Mathematics up until the end of Year 10. Maths runs throughout the whole year.
In this subject, the topics students will study are;
Statistics
Measurement
Algebra
Linear Relationships & Logarithms
Trigonometry
Financial Maths
Networks
Probability
Practical
Much of the course is theoretical, but some scope for practical activities is possible, particularly in the topics of Measurement, Trigonometry and Probability.
PATHWAYS INTO VCE OR VCE VM
Students that complete Year 10 Mathematics can choose to move into;
VCE - VM Numeracy or
VCE General Mathematics 1&2 and 3&4.
Students who choose General Maths in Year 11 will need a CAS calculator.
Students selecting this course only will not be able to select VCE General Mathematics, Maths Methods or Specialist Mathematics.
Students wishing to access these subjects must complete Advanced Maths in Year 10 as this provides them with the skills they will need, particularly in Algebra.
