The Practical Metalworking course is a workshop based course where students will develop a range of practical metalworking skills, practical creativity and problem solving.

Learners develop understanding of safe working practices in a workshop environment, and awareness of sustainability issues in a practical metalworking context. Through this, they develop skills, knowledge and understanding of:
metalworking techniques
welding and plasma cutting
measuring and marking out metal sections and sheet materials
safe working practices in workshop environments
practical creativity and problem-solving skills
sustainability issues in a practical metalworking context
About the course
You will have to complete the following 4 units:

2. Enterprise Skills
3. Working with Others
4. Local Investigations
Personal Development: Self and Work
Pupils will learn to prepare to develop task management skills within a vocational project, carry out the project and review their own task management skills.
Enterprise Skills
Pupils will plan, implement, and evaluate an enterprise activity whilst learning about and developing entrepreneurial skills in the running of an enterprise.
Working with Others
Pupils focus on carrying out an activity and/or activities co-operatively with others and review their co-operative contribution.
Local Investigations
Pupils will develop awareness of a local community while developing high-level research and investigations techniques, planning, organisational and interpersonal skills through in-depth research activities into aspects of the local community projects areas and/or issues of concern in the field of community work.
Future Asset.
One aspect of this course will be in association with Future Asset, they educates girls across Scotland about investment management and enthuses them about careers in the financial service. Taking part allows girls to gain real industry insight, experience and skills by taking part in the Growing Future Assets Competition. This competition is only open to girls.
