Powering Futures

(formally known as Fuel Change)

Progression Pathways

The diagram below shows the progression pathways in this subject:

Aims of the Course

We are very proud to be able to offer this course for a third year after a very successful start last year. Preston Lodge High School was one of the pilot schools behind this project which aims to create a carbon-neutral future for the next generation. Students are given climate challenges from industry professionals to solve an issue in their fight against climate change. This allows students to take positive action with regard to sustainability while developing their employability skills.

Click on the video links below to hear more about the course from PL students who have previously completed the course (as well as our very own Mr Clark!).

Arnold Clark: Reducing waste throughout the life cycle of cars from build to decommission.

Intelligent Growth Solution: How can we grow our food in a more sustainable manner?

Scottish Water: How do we protect and use our natural resources in a more sustainable way?

course assessment

The Powering Futures course is internally assessed by the teachers delivering the course and moderated by our Powering Futures colleagues. There is no final exam for this course as the students are continuously assessed throughout the year through their digital evidence and three assessment check points. On completion of this course students will gain a level 6 qualification and a certificate from Powering Futures.
