Foundation Apprenticeships
In addition to 'traditional' classroom experiences, students have access to our Foundation Apprenticeship programme. These have an element of taught work in schools and industrial placements.
There are three different ways students can complete a Foundation Apprenticeship:
By taking part in one of our four one year in-school Foundation Apprenticeships - we are offering Accountancy, Business Skills and Software Development to S5 and S6 students, and Social Services: Children and Young People to S4, S5 and S6 students
By taking part in a two year East Lothian Foundation Apprenticeship - the offer is the same as our one year in-school Foundation Apprenticeships, so we would only course a student into one of these, at another school, if there were exceptional circumstances.
By taking part in an Edinburgh College Foundation Apprenticeship - two are on offer: see the Edinburgh College brochure for details.
All Foundation Apprenticeship courses involve an interview process in addition to meeting any specific entry requirements.

Open to all S4 and S5 students in East Lothian
On Tuesday & Thursday afternoons at "host" school
Additional to your in-school choice subjects
Travel provided
2 Year courses
Year 1: In the host school completing the "theory" aspects
Year 2: Industry placement / Work Experience

Business Skills - Musselburgh GS
IT Software Development - Knox Academy
Scientific Technologies - Preston Lodge HS or Dunbar GS
Social Services (CYP) - Community venue with Training provider
We will only place students into these courses in exceptional circumstances.
Preston Lodge FAs
Open to S4, S5 and S6 students in Preston Lodge
On Monday & Wednesday afternoons at PLHS
One of your in-school choice subjects
Less travel required - travel to Work Experience will be provided
1 Year courses
