IB organisation offers Request for results -service for graduating DP students. Your final results will be submitted to the institutions of your choice either electronically or on paper. Please note that universities use different terms of this service. You'll get a Wilma message with detailed instructions at the beginning of May.
Request for results service has worked well in the past, but it is not used by all unis. Even in Finland some unis might require you to submit your final exam results (stamped and signed copy from Karoliina Puumalainen in July) either via Opintopolku or even by post.
Therefore you need to know how to submit the final results to the unis you have applied to and to make sure that the unis have gotten your results. You can select 6 universities/admission centers at the maximum! If there are any problems or you wanted your results to be sent to more then 6 universities, you can order your results directly from the IB to be submitted to the unis. A fee will be charged for each additional request that is submitted
For each individual uni you need to submit:
1. The FULL name of the uni
2. faculty/ies=tiedekunta/tiedekunnat (when applying to Finland)
3. The FULL name of the programme/s and if possible
4. The course reference number.
NB! For joint application systems UCAS, UHR Sweden, CAO Ireland: it is enough to submit the personal ID only:
UCAS: 10 digit code, UK
UHR number, Sweden
CAO number (we don't need to know the unis you applied to), Ireland
NB! North America: no more than three institutions can be selected from Canada and USA (of these three only one from US).
When applying to Finland, please check the instructions of each programme from Opintopolku/Studyinfo eg. the results of Kauppatieteen yhteisvalinta and oikeustieteen yhteisvalinta must be submitted to the Uni of Eastern Finland even if you only apply to Aalto, kauppatiede or Helsingin yliopisto, oikeustiede). When applying abroad, always contact the admissions office.
After the info of unis has been entered to IB system at the end of May, it is very important that you check the unis your results are being send to by logging in to the IB Candidate website and clicking the transcript tab: https://candidates.ibo.org/#/
When results are released on July 6th
One of the counsellors and co-ordinator will be available when the results are released on July 6th. However, you have to contact university admission offices directly, if there are any issues related to your results.
To be on the safe side please make sure to get the printed results Karoliina Puumalainen will hand out on 6th of July. It is essential that you are in Helsinki on that very day to receive this printed and stamped copy of your results or you can assign someone to pick up the results on your behalf. If you choose this you need to send Karoliina Puumalainen a Wilma-message stating who will collect them on your behalf. Some unis might require you to send the results to admission offices or upload the results to Opintopolku.
When applying to Finnish unis and unis of applied science, you should also get points based on the Finnish matriculation exams you have taken (=Swedish in most cases). Aalto, Uni of Helsinki and Metropolia have confirmed that the matriculation exam results should be submitted automatically from YTL, Ylioppilastutkintolautakunta.
However, when filling in the application in Opintopolku, there is no place to indicate that you have taken matriculation exams. Therefore you should send an email to Hakijapalvelut in all Finnish unis you have applied to and inform them that you have taken the Swedish matriculation exam or other matriculation exams. When the results of uni admissions are published, check that the Swedish matriculation exam/other matriculation exams have been taken into account. If not, contact the uni immediately.
November retake and split session candidates
You are entitled to retake in November if you have failed the diploma, the syllabus is going to change in the subject or you are a split session candidate. Your retake results will be available in January and you'll get the Diploma from the co-ordinator. You are responsible of ordering your results to be sent to universities.
May retake candidates
You can utilize the Request for results -service described above and inform us of the unis your results will be sent to. We will send May retake candidates an email in April.
