Structure of IB DP counselling

PreDP 

Term 1  

• Counselling lessons on code 7 TUE and THU:  

• Counsellor: IB +PreIB structure, Further studies, Course choices + selecting courses in Wilma (EXAM week) 

• Special ed. teacher: Study skills and calendar, time management, reading skills 

• Social worker: Communoivation skills + Safe space 

• Student wellfare team introduction (Psychologist+nurse) 

• IT teacher: IT skills  

• Weekly Tutor meetings  

Term 2: Further education afternoon at KK  

Term 3  

• Individual counsellor discussions  

• Selecting DP subjects  

• Tutor applications  

Term 4  

• Career afternoon at KK  

• Tutor training course 

• One counsellor lesson about Course selection for DP1 year 

• IB1 course selection on Wilma  

Term 5  

• Registration to Matriculation examination for next fall 

DP1 

Term 1 

• Pakollinen Abitti-harjoittelu ja rehtorin YO-info syksyn Ylioppilaskirjoituksiin osallistuville (only for students taking national side Matriculation examinations)

Term 2 

• Further education morning at KK

• Ilmoittautuminen kevään YO-tutkintoon (only for students taking national side Matriculation examinations)

• Compulsory further education general info, Wilma Dp1 form & self knowledge assignments

• Compulsory further education info about studying in Finland (English programs)

• Compulsory further education info about studying in Europe

  • Further education info about studying in Finland in Finnish / Swedish (compulsory for students speaking Finnish / Swedish)

  • Further education info about studying overseas (optional) 

  • Further education info about studying Medicine (optional) 

Term 3 

• Pakollinen Abitti-harjoittelu ja rehtorin YO-info kevään Ylioppilaskirjoituksiin osallistuville (only for students taking national side Matriculation examinations in spring) 

Term 4 

• Career afternoon at KK

• Compulsory individual further education discussions 

• IB2 course selection on Wilma 

Term 5 

• Individual further education discussions continue

• Ilmoittautuminen syksyn YO tutkintoon (only for students taking national side Matriculation examinations)

DP2 

Term 1 

• Compulsory Individual Further education discussion nr 2 

• Applying to UCAS workshop (all students applying to UK either on cycle 1 or 2)

• Applying to US Workshop (all student applying to US universities)

• Predicted grades (set 1) given out 

Term 2 

• Compulsory Individual Further education discussion nr 2 continue

• Further education afternoon at KK 

Term 3 

• Applying to Netherlands Workshop

• Applying to Ireland Workshop

• Applying to Finnish universities info for DP2

• Filling in Finnish university application round 1 workshop

Term 4 

• Predicted grades (set 2) given out 

• Filling in Finnish university application round 2 workshop

Term 5 

• Requests for submitting final examination results to universities

• Each student need to log into IB candidate website and check that the universities the results are submitted to are correct.
