Digital Lessons with Jamboard

This page will show the steps on how to create amazing flipped lessons using Google Jamboard, Apple Shortcuts, & iMovie. These tutorials will be application based, if you'd like more in-depth how-to's, please visit our Jamboard Page.

Jamboard Lesson Screencast Example

Finding Volume

Students will be use a formula to determine the volume of a rectangular prism.

The Process: I first set up the Jamboard with a Title Slide and took screenshots of Ready Math Problems from the Teacher Toolbox. When ready, I use the Screen Recording feature of the iPad to record, Photos Album to crop to 16:9 Resolution, and then iMovie to edit and add music. Please note that the cropping and editing of this particular screencast are completely optional.

Simple Steps to Lesson Creation

❶ Make a Title Slide

Create a Title Slide with the lesson objective and some pictures to grab the attention of the students.

❷ Set Up Pages

Create talking points and set up diagrams before hand.

❸ Screen Record

Some of the great features in assistive drawing and the pen tools are great for flipped lessons.

Creating & Adding GIFs

Installing & Customizing Shortcuts

Apple Shortcuts are awesome to use for quick and easy steps to complete a task. This one will turn any series of photos or video into a GIF in just a click of a button.

Note: I'm using iOS14 in this video, but it can be done using iOS 13 as well.

Using Screen Recording on iPad

Enable Screen Recording in Settings (Customize Control Center)
Swipe down from top right
Hold finger on Record Icon to make sure Mic is On
Press Record to start the Countdown
Press the Red Icon in top right to stop. It will save to Photos

Editing in iMovie

Importing Videos & Edit Tools

Bringing in your screen recording and trimming it, adding transitions, and giving it a professional look are great ways to draw your students.

Adjusting Audio & Adding Music

This is really finishing touch! You can bring in music and adjust your volume in iMovie to make sure it looks and sounds great!

Cropping Video

Using the Photo Editing Tool, you can crop the video for the perfect 16:9 Resolution

Sharing Your Screencast

Uploading to Google Drive

By uploading it to Google Drive, you can then put it in Google Classroom or Schoology very quickly and easily.

Uploading to Youtube

Have a great lesson you'd like to share with the world? Start a YouTube channel! Use the setting Unlisted if you only want it to appear in the LMS.

Air Drop File

You can use the AirDrop feature on your iPad to send it over to your Mac if you like working on that device more! From there, you can add it as a file on Schoology or Classroom!

You can also Air Drop this to other teachers' devices as well!
