Google Classroom

Most students in grades 3 through 5 will be using Google Classroom to access their digital content on a daily basis. While their assignments and assessments could be through Google Classroom, the classroom communication will be through Seesaw.

Stream & Classwork Organization

Stream Page is great place for announcements, updates, and information to students. You can post to multiple classes at same time as well to specific students.

Classwork Page is great to organize material into topics by week, unit, chapter, content topic, etc. for easy course navigation. Within each topic, add material, assignments, quizzes, and questions for discussion

  • Anything you add here will display on “Stream”

  • Go to your course “Settings” to change this!

Types of Assignments

    • Assignment: Students will have to submit something back to you.

    • Quiz Assignment: Students will fill out a Google Form for formative assessment. Please remember that nothing is grading during this time.

    • Question: Students may be asked to answer a question and respond to other classmates. This is very similar to a discussion board.

    • Material: These are posted resources for students. This could be an article, a link to another site, a video, or just something that the teacher found helpful for student. There will be nothing to submit here.

  • Quizizz: Quizizz will assign your students a particular quiz for homework in which you can receive valuable data on what they know/don’t know.

  • Pear Deck: By using the Google Classroom Integration, when students go to joinpd.com, they will automatically be able to see your lesson. NO CODE NEEDED!

  • EdPuzzle: EdPuzzle allows you to import your rosters from Google Classroom over to EdPuzzle, so you don’t have to create multiple new usernames/passwords!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

I have a student teacher, can they access my Google Classroom?

In order to be connected to your Google Classroom account, they will need an @eastpennsd.org email account. Reach out to your building principal and they will get in touch with the Office of Technology to work that out.

Can I duplicate topics in Google Classroom?

At this moment, you cannot. However, we recommend setting up the topics with the days of the week and just changing the things you need each week rather than creating. Things such as morning meeting, teacher checkin, and lunch/recess will not need to be changed. Anything that is set up to be an assignment won't be able to be edited due to it having a document attached. In that case, you will create a new assignment/material. Materials can be edited.

What size is the Google Classroom banner?

The Google Classroom banner is 1000px x 250px. Here is a Google Slide Template that you can customize!

How can I collaborate with my peers in Google Classroom?

We suggest creating a Digital Filing Cabinet, which is just a collaborative Google Classroom with your team members as co-teachers. You will be able to work together and add in common files. For more information, click here.

Where can I find the Fab 5 slide deck from the Spring?

Hey! It's still up. Although we won't be updating it anymore (updates will be on this site), you can access it at https://bit.ly/fab5classroom.

How can my students edit Google Docs on their iPad?

When they open up a doc or slide in Google Classroom, they will have to perform one more step. First of all, it's important that all students have the particular app (Slides, Docs, etc.). You can access our video here.
