Apple Classroom turns your iPad or MacBook into a powerful teaching assistant, helping you guide students through a lesson, see their progress and keep them on track. With Classroom, you can easily launch the same app on every student iPad at the same time or launch a different app for each group of students. Classroom helps teachers focus on teaching, so students can focus on learning.

With the new version 3.6.1, you will have enhanced controls that will even work remotely! Some other new features are:

  • Students are notified with a ringtone and banner when there is a request to connect to a remote Classroom session

  • Enhanced controls allow students to disconnect from a remote Classroom session and set a time to auto-disconnect once their device is asleep

  • Classroom sessions can simultaneously support a mix of nearby and remote students

  • Use the sidebar navigation to easily create, manage, and edit groups in fewer taps

  • Use smart groups to quickly view students based on proximity or remote connections and foregrounded app

Connecting to Apple Classroom

Part 1: Signing into Managed Apple IDs

Teachers and Students must be logged into their managed ID's in order for this to work.

① Sign into managed iCloud

First, you must sign into your managed Apple ID on the iCloud. This is your @appleid.eastpennsd.org account.

② Sign into Managed Apple Store

If you are signed into your personal professional ID on the App Store (@eastpennsd.org), you must log out and sign into your managed ID in the store.

③ Managed Student IDs

All of your students in the class must be signed into their managed apple ID which would be their six digit number @appleid.eastpennsd.org.

Part 2: Downloading the Apps

These apps are available in our Self-Service App.

Apple also automatically creates Smart Groups based on location, apps, devices, and more!

More (...)

This is where you can hide their apps (which will put them back on the home screen), lock their device, mute their device, or end the class to open up your next session.

Customizing Your Classes

Reorganizing Classes

You can reorganize your classes by simply holding down on a class and dragging it to you the place you want.

For primary teachers, you can organize it by your schedule for the day. For intermediate teachers, you can group the homerooms together.

Renaming Classes

By using Schoolwork, you have the ability to rename your classes. You are renaming the Nickname Only so it will not affect the sync from PowerSchool. This is highly beneficial to teachers that teach multiple of the same classes.

Customizing Classes

By using Apple Schoolwork, you will have the ability to change the color and the icon of your class. This can be used to group like homerooms by color and use different icons for different subjects.
