In November of 2022 The Wiz production began. This production combined the engineering program, art program, chorus program, theater program, and more. It was one of the biggest productions since the Lion King back before covid. We rehearsed for months and finally in March we put on the production. I played the Wiz in The Wiz. It was such a great experience. I made many friends along the way and found a new love for musical theater.
I think the Black History month performance was a success. While I wasn’t able to physically attend, from what I saw in the video they did a good job. I did hear the all day rehearsal was somewhat chaotic. I also heard backstage was quite chaotic as well. However, in the end there were no complaints from the audience. So, again, from the knowledge I've received and the video I've watched, I call it a success. The dancers danced very well and the mix between SA, JA, and EA ran very smoothly. It was nice to see students expressing their feelings through open word and while the acting could have been better it wasn’t entirely their fault. It was honestly the microphones and the sound system that degraded the performance. That’s my personal experience though after watching it solely on camera rather than in person.
