For this project we were asked to create a survey on a topic we were interested in, sample students, and record our results. My group chose the topic of whether the 10th and 11th graders at Drew Charter School follow the school uniform policy and in turn whether the Drew Charter School policy actually works? We are interested in this because we are curious why the school administration is so strict about it. We created our survey in google forms and sampled kids from 10th and 11th grade (clister sampling). From this survey we hoped to get an accurate estimate of whether the school uniform policy is actually being followed. The Drew Charter School administration in charge of creating and or implimenting the school uniform policy could benefit from this seeing as it may give them some more insight on how they could alter the uniform policy to accomplish their goal of school uniformity while also taking into consideration the betterment of the students.
We asked people through a variety questions whether they follow EVERY rule of the school policy, whether they were able to afford adhering to the school policy, whether they believe the policy is implemented to EVERYONE throughout the ENTIRE year, and whether their future professions require a dress code. After organizing the data from our survey we have determined that while the Drew Charter School policy might work for some, it doesn't work for others. While some people could afford the almost $100 blazer, some had to get it passed down/donated. While some people will need to wear a dress code in the future, some people don't. In conclusion, the dress code can be improved. It doesn't necessarily benefit all children, just some. I think with this information the administration can work to create a more equitable dress code.
For this job we split the slides up equally. I created the title page, table of contents, and last two pages. From this project I learned how to sample a population, how to create a unbiased survey, how to distribute it. Ulitmately, I believe this was a fun way to learn about survey's and its components.
Last semester, I did well understanding and applying the content we covered to various practice sheets and notes. I was able to complete the practice and the notes early almost every class and not have to do homework. While this is true, I think my test scores could have been better. This is because while I did score well it wasn't always up to my standards. I learned the best using notes and videos. I prefered when the lessons were more individualized rather than full class discussions. My goal for this semester is to have an overall grade of 100% by the end of the semester in May. I think it would be fun to have an activity incorporating food so we can have a treat after completing it.
