For this assignment we were asked to create a Farmers Only.com profile page. Our task was to research a particular style of farming, create a booth telling people about your style of farming, make a nametag of your farmer, create a wow factor to pull people towards your booth (food, buisness cards, trading cards, etc), create a flier or brochure which describes your style of farming, and finally we had to prepare a 2 minute speech which educates your listener about your type of farming. This includes where it's located, what crops are grown, what climate it thrives in, what soil or landscape is needed for the crops to grow, a current event issue relating to your style of agriculture, fun facts, and finally pictures and or drawings to further illustrate your view. After researching your style of farming, we participated in a speed dating event. This is the poster my partner Madison and I presented during that event located to the left.
For this project my class and I were given a sheet of paper describing a certain person and a specific situation they were experiencing in their country. Then we had to take this information, draw a picture illustrating where it happened, write some concepts it connected to in AP Human geography, and create a hashtag decribing the situation in a few words. I got Chloe Tan. She was a woman unable to buy a specific house in Singapore because they were reserved for those who were married. The issue was that Chloe Tan identified as lesbian and in Singapore same sex marriage wasn't, and still isn't, legalized. This prohibited her from purchasing the house. The situation related to the concepts of TFR (total fertility rate), NIR (natural increase rate), and dependency ratio. I chose the hashtag "houses for the non-spouses". Then we participated in a speed dating activity where we explained our person and the situation they were in.
This was one of the first physical posters we created during this school year. We were tasked to make a poster which includes the title of the course, the unit, a border listing vocabulary words and small images, a poem, two main images, a definition of a vocabulary word from the unit, and finally three influential people in this unit. As you can see, the focus of this poster was maps and regions. Throughout the poster you will see various things related to the first unit of this course. For example spatial significance, patterns and trends, interrelationships, and geographic perspective.
For this project we were told to research a country of our choice and create a poster/PSA telling them whether they should implemenet pronatalist or antinatalist policies. I chose Afghanistan. We had to find the TFR (total fertility rate), CBR (crude birth rate), CDR (crude death rate), NIR (natural increase rate), and the total dependency ratio. Then we had to draw the population pyramid of said country and accurately illustrate the age ratio, sex ratio, and stage in the DTM (demographic transition model). After all that research, we had to design a poster persuading the people of said country to either have less children or have more children. My country definitely needed to implement antinatalist policies, so, I depicted that through my poster located on the right.
