For this project, redesigned the bookstore Barnes and Noble on Peachtree road. I chose this building because it is one of my favorite places to go on the weekend. My design includes additional seating and study space as well as a more modern exterior design. I also included more natural light rather than artificial light. I accomplished this by adding a second and third floor and by filling it with seating fit for the masses. My building is in the shape of a large book and the section that looks like pages is made with windows. I prioritized the addition of natural and additional seatign because, according to the data I gathered from my fellow students, there isn’t enough seating or natural light for everyone to sit and read comfortably.
This was the first assignment we were tasked to do. We had to hand draw the original floor design of the building and measure each length/width. This is my floor plan and cross sectional design of the current Barnes & Noble.
This was our second assignment. We were asked to draw the building, again, but including our modifications. This is my 2D design of the improved Barnes & Noble. It contains additional floors, which will leave space for extra seating, a new exterior design, as well as a large open area illuminating natural light. Throughout the project we were told to incorporate at least three 3D shapes into our design. I incorporated rectangular prisms, triangular prisms, as well as a sphere. This all enhances my overall exterior design.
This was our third assignment. We were asked to take our 2D design and use it to design a 3D version. This is my 3D design of the improved Barnes & Noble. Here is the front view as well as the 3/4 view. I'm showcasing the facade and the grand window.
