For spanish we had to create visionboards illustrating our goals for the future. We had to encorporate at least 3 educational goals, 3 personal goals, and 3 active goals. I wrote about Spelman, the college I want to attend, my dreams to become a medical doctor, and my goal to become a Kyo Sah Nim (instructor) at my karate studio. Finally we had to present our goals in a Flipgrid for a written commication and oral communication grade.
For our Spanish PBL we were asked to create a presenation describing the different characteristics of different trees (arboles), their structures, what they symbolize, and how they effect different cultures and religions. Then we had to sculpt the Ancient Mayan Tree of Life and present an oral speech explaining how it relates to the evolution of trees and evolution between time periods.
For our spanish final project we were tasked to go on a trip through three Spanish speaking countries. We had a budget of $5000 dollars and had to deduct costs for transportation, excursions, and housing. We had to incorporate which form of travel we were taking per trip (backpacking, flying, etc), at least 3 excursions per trip, at least 2-3 native meals per day per trip, and what accommodations we had per trip. Then after finding the costs of eveything we had to present them in both US dollars and Colombian pesos. It was a large research project which included a written communication grade and a knowledge and thinking grade.
To help us review the preterite tense Ms.Gilkey, our spanish teacher, told us to make a poster. This poster included the definition of the preterite tense, the two verb ending tables, the gang verb ending table, five gang names, and finally a symbol representing the tense. Here is my poster located on the right. I chose a checked off to-do list as the symbol because things you put on your to do list have already been done (began and ended at a specific time). These are the situation where you use the preterite tense. Look through the poster for more information.
Propaganda is a type of communication used to influence or persuade others. Our task was to create a piece of propaganda persuading others why we should have open campus lunch. My slogan was "liberar a los ninos para alimentar a los ninos". That means free the children to feed the children. Here is my finished poster located to the left.
