Dobbs already a disaster

On June 24, 2022 the U.S supreme court officially overturned Roe v Wade, ending the constitutional right to an abortion, and leaving the decision up to the states. But the effects of abortion restriction have been studied before: NBC reports in 2019, when Texas faced restriction of an abortion, that the rate of maternal mortality cases in Texas rose by 56% compared to just 11% nationwide. Interestingly, a study led by Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health researchers also found that the following year after another restriction against abortion in Texas, infant death rose from 1,985 to 2,240, corresponding to a 2.9 percent increase in infant deaths in Texas compared to a 1.8 percent increase in infant deaths for the rest of the states. But what does this mean to America today?

As of November 6, 2024, 13 states have banned abortion, 28 states have abortion bans based on gestational duration, the period of time between conception and birth. Before the overturn states allowed more lenient access to terminate a pregnancy, giving the mother adequate time to actually know she's pregnant, make a decision and assess herself before making a choice. Currently 4 states have a ban at 6 weeks, for contact the average woman only finds out she's pregnant at 5 weeks, this leaves no time for preparation, mental, physical or financial.

Abortion is healthcare, and that should not be debated on. Abortion should be a choice you get to make, one you can feel safe and sure of. The argument of adoption by Pro-Life organizations is irrational, they haven’t passed or fought for any foster care aid. The Anne E. Casey foundation found that in 2021 out of approximately 585,000; three in four experienced neglect, so how could an organization so set on the protection of life ignore the already living children? Where were they during the court cases for the deaths of school-shooting victims? Or for all the girls across America who now have to leave their homes to get an abortion, or, like one 13 year old girl in Mississippi, who was forced to have her rapist's baby because she didn’t have a choice? Any movement that claims to fight for someone's right to live should be fighting against the suffrage of everyone abused, not just fetuses.
