Construction continues on the CTE building and things look very different from a few months ago.
Pence Construction intern senior Alex Chittick has provided The Highlander with these updates:
On March 12th, the concrete sub TGC finished pouring on the second-floor slab on grade. They continue to pour on the first floor.
The plastic around the building is to prevent water from pouring onto the second floor and on the sound mat in between the CLT wood and the concrete floor before it’s poured. This sound mat prevents the transfer of sound from a student dropping something, or people walking, etc. It was imperative to keep the second floor dry due to the details on the sound mat submital.
The white boxes on the roof are pallets of insulation. They melted lots of asphalt to make the roof waterproof (The asphalt is the horrible smell students and teachers have been smelling lately), they turn on the kettle and spread the asphalt like a glue for the insulation to stick to the roof. Be assured the smell is not toxic and unfortunately, it’s just the natural process of roofing a building like this.
The brick veneer around the exterior walls is finished.
Roofing of the Autoshop is same as the main building. The only difference being the structural steal holding up the roof. insulation and asphalt have the same process.
The concrete floor in the auto shop will be finished in May
1st floor concrete finish will be on the end of this month
Casework in classrooms will start September
Roofing finish with be finished depending on dry weather
Exterior walls will start to be installed next week
Windows will be installed April
The CTE Building will be finished December 2025, and summer work starts in June. North renovations include new bleachers in gym and new basketball backstops on the second floors of gym. South renovations include a new vestibule, new welding booths, reroof 40%, new HVAC systems, and a playground structure for preschoolers in courtyard.
