Five hundred and fifty eight students and a multitude of staff members attended the 2025 prom, themed “Secret Soiree,” at the Leftbank Annex on the evening of April 25th.
With the prom packed, the lights dimmed and the music blaring, it was truly time for a party. The prom was split into two floors, with the first floor being a much more chill environment and the second floor was with music. With the theme of Secret Soiree, students were dressed as finely as can be, with OPB interviewing students with the finest outfits in “Fit Checks”. The DJ played loads of hits from various years like “Timber” by Pitbull, “Cha Cha Slide” by DJ Casper and “California Gurls” by Katy Perry. On the second floor, they also had two photo booths with one printing physical photos to remember the evening by. But no matter what hour of the night, the dance floor was always packed to the brim with avid dancers.
But if the dance floor was too much for you, then the first floor was ready with open arms. There was a live jazz band performance from David Douglas students for the first hour of the night which brought a calm liveliness into the first floor. Surrounding the musicians were sets of armchairs for students to chillax with friends and bask in the wonderful music. Right next to the chairs were a couple pool tables for students to feel like they were truly at an actual soiree, and right next to that was the Silent Disco. Inside, students and staff were given headphones linked to a playlist which could be switched at the press of a button, so people could dance with friends at whatever volume they wanted and to what song they wanted. Just by the stairs to the dance floor was an arcade machine students could play for free, loaded with hundreds of games like “Tetris” and “Street Fighter”.
If prom-goers were thirsty from dancing and partying, water and sparkling apple cider in plastic champagne glasses were available. For food, there was a table that housed many sweet treats like macaroons and ferrero rochers and chips as a savory snack.
If students bought their tickets early it was 20, but it went up to 30 if you missed the flash sale. Luckily, those with an ASB sticker were able to get tickets for 25 even after the sale. Upperclassmen had the privilege to bring a plus one which included the option of underclassmen or, after filling out a guest pass, someone outside of the David Douglas school.
“It’s great being around people,” said senior Arion O’Neill.
“It’s been fun just hanging out with friends and such,” said junior Taylor Miller.
