Mind Frame 1

Directions

Read about Mind Frame 1.  After you have read about the mind frame, complete the activity at the bottom of the page in your Zombie Survival Guide.

Mind Frame 1:  Teachers believe that their fundamental task is to evaluate the effect of their teaching on students' learning and achievement.

Key Question:  Are our practices bringing out the best in our students?

Guiding Questions:  Where am I going?  How am I going there?  Where to next?

This mind frame involves evaluating the impact of the lessons on the students in the classroom.  This involves looking at what the teacher is doing, what the students are doing, and seeing the learning through the eyes of the students.  The evaluation of the teacher's actions on what the student does and how the teacher responds to the students' actions in the classroom work together to create excellent teaching in the classroom.

Formative evaluation of students

Feedback collected and used to provide additional instruction to students is best if it is given in a cycle.  The cycle requires teachers to think, reflect, be enthusiastic, passionate, and knowledgeable about the impact that their teaching is having on the students.  When formative evaluations are completed in this way, the benefits are seen in all age groups and special needs categories.
