A message from Principal  Santos ...

I am hopeful that everyone had a restful holiday weekend. This week we celebrate Paraprofessional Day. Our paraprofessionals are they key to our success and we would not be able to do the work we do each day without them. From subbing in for teachers, managing lunches each day, providing instructional support, organizing materials and EVERYTHING in between, we are truly grateful for their commitment to students and putting forth their best each and every day!

We celebrate Mayra Garza and Maria Arellano for their stellar support and leadership in the Pre-K classrooms. Fabiola Sanchez, Gladys Garcia and Angelina Alcaraz, Felicia Gordon and Abriana Nava for their creativity and flexibility in the Kinder-8th grade classrooms (and BEYOND) Guriulani Corvera-Huerta and Josefina Fuentes for their leadership in special Education as they provide support in our classrooms each day and Jocelin Gonzalez

and Elizabeth Tovar for all they do to help us monitor our hallways, organize lunches and ensure a safe environment across our building.

Our students and staff are continuing to work hard to achieve their goals and make the most of their learning experiences. I'm proud of their accomplishments and the progress they've made, and I'm grateful for your ongoing support.

This year, our assessment season is a little earlier than we are used to, but we are eager to celebrate our learning and show what we know.

As we move further into this season, I encourage you to take some time to enjoy some time outdoors and talk about what you observe. Where do you notice signs of new beginnings? How does nature renew itself each year?

As we closed out Women's History Month last week we were over the moon to welcome the USS Constitution Commander, BJ Farrell. Click here to learn more about her. She was incredibly inspiring and we were so grateful for the time she took to travel from Boston to come see us!

We have a lot of Solar events coming up including the Talent Show, Eclipse Viewing, Derby Day and Solar Carnival. Please read below for more information.

HAVE AN INCREDIBLE WEEK!

Dear Parents and Families,

You may have heard there is quite a bit of excitement as we eagerly await Solar Eclipse Day on Monday, April 8. Dallas ISD is gearing up for this extraordinary learning opportunity, and we anticipate many will be drawn to North Texas to witness the full eclipse.

Across the district, students are provided the chance to experience this celestial event from their campus. Each student will be provided safety glasses to ensure they can safely observe the eclipse. It's an incredible opportunity for them to witness the wonders of the universe firsthand.

I encourage you to take a moment to talk to your child about the importance of wearing these safety glasses– they are not just accessories but essential tools to ensure their eyes are protected. We will also review the importance of this pratice at school and opportunities for volunteers to help with this experience will be sent out by each grade level.

With the anticipated influx of visitors to the area, there may be some transportation delays in high-traffic areas. In the event of bus delays, we appreciate your patience patience. Utilize our transportation app for real-time updates.

Additionally, to help alleviate potential traffic concerns, we kindly request if you need to check your child out for any reason that day, please do so between 10:15 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. (The absence policy will not change on this day.)

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we prepare for this exciting day. Let's make it a memorable experience for our students.

Please review grade level newsletters for a Google Form to confirm your scholar's participation intentions.

THE THEATRE DEPARTMENT IS SO EXCITED TO SHOWCASE THEIR TALENT. CHECK THE PTA WEBSITE FOR TICKETS AND FOLLOW US @SOLARGIRLSTHEATRE ON INSTAGRAM FOR MORE DETAILS.

At Solar Prep for Girls our uniform policy includes a very specific dress code. We believe that if a student is dressed for success they will feel confident which positively impacts academic performance. Our hope is that our uniform creates a sense of pride for our school and our school community. We appreciate your support in ensuring your student comes to school dressed appropriately and ready to engage in learning.

We will continue providing feedback to students out of dress code to ensure a safe and inclusive environment.
