A message from Principal Santos...
We are looking forward to Fall Break! Our last day for students dress up for Hispanic Heritage is tomorrow. Students may wear traditional attire representing a country or a t-shirt that sends a positive message about Hispanic Culture. All students who choose not to dress up should wear their uniforms tomorrow!
You should be receiving notifications from your child's homeroom teacher to begin setting up parent conferences which will run from October 16th until October 27th. Please call the front office if you need support.
We need your help with CARLINE. SIGN UP HERE.
HAVE AN INCREDIBLE WEEK!
HELP SUPPORT OUR NEIGHBORS DURING DROP-OFF AND PICKUP
OUR NEIGHBORS HAVE REACHED OUT AND ARE ASKING FOR SOME HELP. When you are in carline on Henderson, please refrain from stopping in front of a driveway or street access to Henderson in order to maintain the ability of our neighbors to get in and out of their homes.
Parents are the most important role models for our students. Help us model leadership, empathy and self-awareness during our arrival and dismissal by respecting our safety expectations.

❗IMPORTANT REMINDERS
In order to ensure safety and consistency for dismissal, we want to remind parents that PIKMYKID changes are no longer taken over the phone or by any school personnel. Our staff will be happy to walk you through how to make the changes on the app. Parents must make changes on the app before the cut-off time of 2:45pm. We appreciate your support with this. Please contact Ms. Santos directly with any concerns or questions at oborrego@dallasisd.org.
SCHOOL STARTS AT 8:00 AM. Sisterhood Circle, Shine Time and Advisory Period are all critical components of our day of learning and we want to ensure all students are able to take part. We are giving parents some time to figure out timing with traffic and school zones. Students will be counted tardy beginning at 8:01. Parents must exit their vehicles and sign students in when dropping off after 8:00 AM. Please help us ensure that all of our Trailblazers are here on time!

FOOD NEWS AND UPDATES
Birthday Treats 🍓🎂🍿🍩 🍉
We ask that individual gifts for students (flowers, cookies, cards) be given at home. We will no longer be delivering individual gifts to students. If a parent has made a delivery to the school, they can come to the office with the student after dismissal is over to pick up the items.
Parents/Guardians may bring birthday treats ONLY if there are enough to share with the whole class. These treats will only be accepted to celebrate birthdays (not other occasions - unless specifically requested by a teacher). Birthday treats must be store bought and will always be distributed during the last 10 minutes of class.
We are a nut-free campus. We want parents to be mindful of allergies in the classroom. Teachers will notify parents through their newsletters/Remind about allergies.
Classroom snacks should be individually wrapped and may be dropped off in the front office. Please make sure that the boxes/bags of treats are labeled with your child's homeroom teacher.
Lunch 🥕🥪🌮🥗🍱
We are requesting that parents to limit the amount of times that lunches are dropped off in the office. While we are happy to accommodate occasional needs - we want to ensure that our time is focused on attendance, enrollment and parent support. Uber Eats or any other delivery service are ONLY to be used to provide meals for teachers and staff. While we understand that things come up, your support with this is greatly appreciated!
Parents are welcome to come eat with their child beginning in October. Here are the safety guidelines:
Parents/guardians may sign up once a semester to eat with their child.
In the event of inclement weather, you will need to reschedule your date as there is no indoor dining option available for guests.
Limit to 2 parents/guests at a time, must bring ID and be listed in Powerschool, no exceptions.
Guest may eat with their child only (no friends/additional students).
Beverages 🧃🥤☕️🥛
The ONLY beverage allowed to be consumed in classrooms is WATER! Students are encouraged to have a LABELED water bottle with them all day and may refill it throughout the day, as needed.
All other beverages will be allowed to be consumed in the cafeteria ONLY. If students bring any type of morning beverage such as coffee, a smoothie or juice, and they arrive before 8AM, they will be given time to consume their beverage in the cafeteria. At 8 AM or when students exit the cafeteria, beverages other than water must be disposed of before entering the hallway beyond the cafeteria.
Thank you for helping us to ensure that every bit of energy we have is focused on instruction and that the cleanliness and attention in our learning environment is prioritized. (And helping us make sure that our encounters with creepy crawlers are minimized!)
