Harlem Hellfighters

Preview Only - Hellfighters - Harlem's Heroes of World War One.

We have the full 30 min documentary in the library - its part of the Young Indiana Jones DVD set (there are another 35 WWI documentaries in the set).

PBS's "The Great War" - Episode 2 has 3 sections (probably totaling 27+ minutes) on the Harlem Hellfighters. 40:00-50:00, 1:06:00 - 1:13:00, 1:20:00-1:30:00, plus smaller sections/mentions in the other episodes. We have this here on DVD.

"After fighting for democracy overseas in World War I, African American soldiers returned determined to fight for democracy at home" article from PBS's "The Great War"

Harlem Hellfighters from the History Channel - 6 minutes

Henry Johnson and the Harlem Hellfighters - 9 minutes. The whole channel seems pretty good - almost 200 short documentaries about The Great War.

"The Harlem Hellfighters: Fighting Racism in the Trenches of WWI" - 4-minute audio story with music/interviews and pictures from the Max Brooks graphic novel.

"Who Were the Harlem Hellfighters?" from PBS - a short article published in conjunction with the series "The African Americans: Many Rivers to Cross." We have the series, but while it has a section on Harlem in the 1910s/20s, it didn't seem to have the Hellfighters.
