As the school year comes to an end, the senior students of 2025 are preparing themselves for graduation. On May 21, they will be leaving CHS to make their mark in the world. They shall be recognized for their hard work in academics and their contributions to the school.
“Honestly, it's really shocking, because it’s like I was just at junior high, and now I’m finna walk across the stage and it’s like ‘Wow!’,” Syrennie Dennis said.
Our valedictorian and salutatorian have been picked out to give their speeches during the graduation ceremony. They have been recognized as the two highest-achieving seniors and will be acknowledged for their hard work during their final school year.
“Honestly, it was kind of a shock,” salutatorian Eman Mahmood said. “It’s definitely an honor and a privilege to get picked for this position. I’d like to give credit to my parents, especially my dad.”
“It all feels pretty rewarding, like all my hard work has paid off,” valedictorian Jacob Pettijohn said. “There are a lot of reasons: my parents and teachers, who always pushed me to do my best; and my friends, who were all pretty competitive education-wise.”
Many seniors reflect on the good times they’ve had at CHS, and are reluctant to be moving on from high school, possibly leaving their friendships behind. Some say that they are nervous about moving on to college.
“I think I’ll miss the most after high school is the main schedule,” Javon Abernathy said. “Cause college is like complete freedom and it can be too much for you.”
We bid our seniors adieu as they leave CHS and move on to carve out their own futures. Farewell, dear seniors!
