Perfect holiday displays don’t just happen. The magic of Christmas décor starts long before the light turns on. Behind the scenes it’s a whirlwind of planning, creativity, and a little holiday chaos.
Most people don’t realize that Christmas décor is planned far in advance. Decorators are already sketching out the holiday look, and by the time the season begins, every ribbon, every wreath, and every color palette has already been chosen.
“I started planning the holiday look as early as November 4th. I prepared the rooms by cleaning and getting all of the decorations out of the storage,” teacher Mr. Garcia said.
All holiday décor comes together piece by piece, but there is a time where a certain feature of decorating takes up people’s focus.
“I put a lot of effort into the color choices I choose for the tree. Those colors are black, white, and gold,” Garcia said.
The joy of decorating often emerges gradually. Beyond all of the effort involved, there is always a moment in the decorating process when the work shifts into genuine enjoyment.
“The part of the decorating process that brings me the most joy is putting the ornaments on the tree,” junior Anna Imerman said.
